'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from outside the box, and the defender immediately converted the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after they changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
